Landfall

To consider Earth the only populated world in infinite space is as absurd as to assert that in an entire field sown with seed, only one grain will grow -the Greek scholar Metodorus in the 4th Century BCE.

CA. 166,230 B.C.E. Arrival of the Gods

Enki awoke with a start, his heart racing. The Archon’s early warning sirens pierced the air. “They had arrived – their centuries-long journey across the stars was nearing its end.”

As the alarms started to get annoying, Enki realized that the Archon was nearing the braking point in its trajectory. “The long journey is nearly over” he thought, clearing sleep from his head. “Soon, I will stand on the soil of our new home”.

Out the window, Enki glimpsed the massive solar sails unfurling. Spanning nearly the width of the planet they approached, the metallic sheets began angling to catch rays of sunlight, slowing the Archon for orbital entry.

Initiation

Not by age but by capacity is wisdom acquired
-Titus Maccius Plautus (254 BC – 184 BC)

CA. 2,000 A.C.E. Present Day

Tim Yeager sat in the back of the Cessna wondering if he would really make it to his destination. Miguel, the pilot, was showing off, and Tim’s lunch was rising in his throat. “Are we there yet?” he yelled as the engine throttled down for another dive.

Miguel looked over his shoulder smiling wide “Do not worry senor, I go this trip every day.”

Architect of Babylon

CA. 9,500 B.C.E. The Tower of Babel
“Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do; and nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them”

-Yahweh, Genesis. 11:6

The dust soared upward as the ship settled on the valley floor. The occupants waited, knowing that to leave too quickly would kill them. Better to let the mercury fumes dissipate. Marduk hated having to use this rickety old ship, but was also grateful to have it. The Sargon was one of the few surviving craft left after the deluge caused by the destruction of Aleph. This old Seraphim freighter had been one of the first cargo vessels designed to shuttle gold ore between the planets. Now with technology scarce and no infrastructure left to build new ships, he would have to be content to fly in this old decaying Vimana.
